Why does my screen on my ds go blank when using my action replay?


Ok here are the details
My game is from the USA(please dont just make a point about this)
I have a nintendo ds lite

When i start up my nintendo it used to say unknown game but i fixed that problem now though when i press start once i choose the codes the page goes blank does anyone know why? Oh and also yes i know the games from usa but it says action replay can work with usa games too.

    charge the battery enter some codes or ur ds is crap or ur action replay is crap
